Castro Marques suspended for one game

HOUSTON (AP) -- Seattle Storm forward Iziane Castro Marques received a one-game suspension Tuesday from the WNBA for throwing a punch at Minnesota Lynx forward Svetlana Abrosimova.

Castro Marques did not dress for Tuesday night's 71-67 loss to the Houston Comets and was not available for comment. The infraction was committed Sunday in Seattle's 73-70 defeat.

Seattle head coach Anne Donovan defended Castro Marques and said she did not agree with the ruling.

``I don't know what they (the league) are doing,'' Donovan said. ``The intent was not a swing so I'm not sure about much more on that.''

Castro Marques should be available for the Storm's game Thursday night at San Antonio.

This is cheap. The league never even ejected Diana Taurasi or Delisha Milton-Jones in an obvious near-brawl during their last game. And Izzy's hit wasn't intentional.

Fans are outraged at this seemingly unfair treatment. Izzy just wanted to get away from Svet because the latter was holding on to the Brazilian's jersey.

This is total crap.
