In playing with an injured knee for her first two seasons, all Seattle Storm point guard Sue Bird did was earn First Team All-WNBA honors twice.

After getting that knee surgically repaired in the offseason, Bird has come out better than ever in 2004. Not only does she rank in the top ten in assists per game (4.3), but she is shooting 60.0% from 3-point range and ranks #2 in the WNBA in 3-point field goals made (15).

The Storm won both its games last week, including a dismantling of Phoenix at home on Thursday night as Bird outscored her friend and rival, Mercury guard Diana Taurasi, 16-6.

The 5-9 Long Island native also tallied six assists in Saturday evening's win at Sacramento, but more importantly, the Storm ended their nine-game road losing streak and sit atop the Western Conference standings.

Bird is also a member of U.S. Women's Senior National team that will represent the Stars and Stripes at the Olympic games in Athens this summer.
