Short Weekend

...kasi I waited for this weekend for a very huge collective amount of time, eh kaso it had to be over so soon.

NESTLE CHEERDANCE
Carabelles was heartbroken, and I could see she was really entitled to feel bad. Their squad gave me goosebumps when they were performing.

But UST had to win. And UP came a little short of snatching that darn trophy away. And FEU was the 2nd runner-up.

Ayoko na magpaka-bitter. To each his own. I still believe last year's USTe routine was better than this year. Eh nanalo na nga sila, so wag na pakialaman. Although if JoeyDemon doesn't shut his mouth up about this, I'm gonna start throwing things at him (and Cara and Jakey will probably help me with that task).

Okay lang. I had the chance to annoy the heck out of him when lowly NU got their only win over them in the second round. Haha.

Ewan. Next year na lang ulit. Di naman natatapos ang mundo dito eh.

And speaking of the world not ending with this cheerdance chuva...

UAAP WBBALL

The resulft of FEU and ADMU's playoff earlier was not the one I would've wanted. I wanted the Lady Tams to win it coz I believe that the Lady Maroons will have an easier time with FEU than with ADMU. ADMU's front court gives fits to every team in the league (imagine Cassy Tioseco and AJ Barracoso at the same time, brrr).

Eh pero Ateneo had to win (FEU 50 - ADMU 55). And so we will be facing them during the first round of the Final Four. Nyehehe.

Skeds aren't yet posted over at UBelt. Hope we can make it kahit isang game lang. :)

SESSIONS

The GoNuts Session with Nikki and Lowla was a great one. Andami kong chismis na nasagap. As in. ;) Sa uulitin. :D Too bad Carabelles couldn't come. Nasira na tuloy tradition nating apat. hehe.

UP Fight!

9/14/2005

The Lady Maroons...

...will go for that twice to beat advantage tomorrow, 8AM, in the Adamson Gym in San Marcelino.

If they beat the FEU Lady Tams tomorrow, they'd be in 2nd place. By the way, if we lost to the Lady Tams, and if Ateneo wins over DLSU, there would be a three-way tie. Naku.

At least the Lady Maroons are sure of a Final Four slot in the UAAP, unlike the Maroons na every year na lang ata heartbreak ang dala sa mga fans hehehe.

great great weekend

[UAAP] UP lost to UE yesterday but Lowla and I got to watch LA, Ajin, Adi and que-horror Lolo Lau (with the other UP Pep Drummers) "perform" in the halftime show. With the Cheer Dance Competition scheduled on Saturday, Sept 17, I guess the real dancers need to practice some more and not risk getting themselves injured during the halftime shows. UP's show was so cool and i'm sure no one else can do such thing. At aminin natin, feel na feel ni LA ang maging dancer ha? Waittaminute, where was Mika? Bakit wala siya dun? Hehehe. Si Ajin, masaya habang sumasayaw. Si Lolo Lau ewan ko hehehe. di ko siya makita eh.

US OPEN Last night, I was watching Kim Clijsters defeat Maria Sharapova and sorry Joey dude, I was really rooting for Kim. I also got to watch the finals this morning. Kim defeated Mary Pierce. Comeback queens battled it out, but Clijsters prevailed to win her first ever Grand Slam title. Woohoo! I do hope Pierce comes back to the tour for a couple more years or so.

BOXING I was in the cab when the news came on that Pacquiao already won against Velasquez. They said it was in the 5th round and they were interviewing her mother in General Santos City (tama ba?). But when I got home, Jakey was just clamoring about this match before PacMan's where this Filipino-Hawaiian (daw) clobbered the reigning champion in the 1ST ROUND with barely a minute into the match. Wow. And then I found out that Solar and RPN were showing the feed late, as in tapos na nga, oo nga yung match ni Manny. And the radio announcer said it was in 5 rounds, eh 5 rounds na nakatayo pa rin si Velasquez. Yun pala, 6th round, TKO siya. Woohoo! Astig!

Btw, what happened to Erik Morales? Did he climb up a weight category or what? He was defeated by ICantRememberHisName. Oh well.

So far so good right?

Oh, RPN just had to ruin that by showing WNBA Action. Pusanggala. I was recuperating and getting back to my nonBroody self but they had to show it again. Punyemas talaga.

One thing though, I really can't find it in me to like the whole of the Connecticut Sun. Si Whalen lang talaga ang okay sa kanila. Sales and Douglas, sobrang yabang. Taj, I don't even wanna go there. Si Whalen talaga, astig. Ashja Jones gets my support though, kasama siya sa "college family" ni Birdy eh.

-------------------------------------

I really need to learn a new sport. Tennis perhaps? The freakingly long 8 months of waiting for the WNBA season to begin would be very bad for my sanity. Lalo na ngayon that the FIBA WC would be conflicting with the season (or playoffs, I'm not really sure). Hay, and American Idol is matagal pa (yak so konyo). Hey, maybe I should take up badminton (and ruin my wrist for ping-pong in the process).

Hay, bahala na. I need to find something to do.

bored and snowed under...

...there is not one single topic today that can make me rant nonstop.

i'm simply bored.

talk about the junked impeachment complaint against PGMA? nah, my head hurt when i was trying to watch the live feed from the lower house the other night (or was it two nights ago?). call me apathetic but the politics in this country do tend to inspire apathy in most people. you believe that the good will win the end - but what is the good anyway? i hardly consider the administration as good nor will i consider the opposition the good side. everyone has some faults and maybe most of them contributed a whole darn lot to the detriment of this country.

earlier i went to joey's blog (http://ye12oj.blogspot.com) and he was ranting about the current situation in this country and while i may want to voice out my opinions too, i just prefer to just wait it out until things get settled. i mean, fine, someone has to start changing...but that someone should be one of those in the higher echelons, you know? because it's not the common people that brought this country to - dare i say - ruins, it's them politicians.

ay ambot.

on the other hand, i saw this article over the storm site (http://storm.wnba.com) about who's under contract and who's not. i still have to sort out who i might want to keep (pretending to be the gm for a sec there) and protect from chicaco nonameyets in the expansion draft. the article also enumerates the stormies' off season plans.

BATGIRL - will play in the EuroLeagues for UMMC Ekaterinburg, alongside Yo Griffith and Lindsay Whalen.

BIRDY - will play in the EuroLeagues for the Moscow Dynamo with UConn teammate Diana Taurasi, Storm teammate Natalya Vodopyanova, and others (NY's Elena Baranova, Phoenix's Kamila Vodichkova, and LA's Mwadi Mabika).

JB - will join family to recover from Hurricane Katrina before flying to Prague to play.

IZZY - will not play in Russia for the off-season. She'll return to Brazil to take a much-needed rest.

SIMI - will return to Jamaica to do some charity work and will probably play in the Italian League.

LOZ - will start for the Canberra Capitals on Oct 1 (?) in the Aussie WNBL.

BMONEY - will return to Missouri to rest injured wrists and then will head to China to play in the -what else?- Chinese League.

CHELLE - Dallas. will play somewhere in January.

VODO - will return to Russia where she'll have a week off before playing for the Moscow Dynamo.

TWRIGHT - back to Penn State to complete degree.

ZARA - back to Italy and play for her team, Phard Napoli.

thus the season ends...

Not with accolades for a game worthy of high praises.

Not with another banner up in the Key Arena.

Not with thousands of fans in the Key and around the globe rejoicing.

But with tears in the player's eyes as they never knew what hit them. And they chose to have an off-night at this time of the year.

They were never prepared for the onslaught of Houston's veterans.

And I, along with other true StormFans, are stunned.

----------

And so this season ends, unexpectedly earlier than one would've wanted. Clearly lacking some veteran leadership, the whole team crumbled as soon as the game commenced.

Birdy was shut down offensively.

Loz had became a non-factor as the series progressed.

Betty...well, Betty had got to learn that she has teammates around her.

It was a great season nonetheless. Nobody even expected that they will mirror last year's regular season record (20-14) after all the major makeovers this team went though (lost 3 veterans - 2 starters and 1 very valuable sixth (wo)man).

It was a great season. It's just sad that it had to end like this.

That said, even if my favorite baller choked during this series, I'll still love the team, I'll still root for them, I'll still believe in them.
