Storm Wins Over Minnesota

MUSIC PLAYING: some classical music
KILCHER MODE: bangag, stressed out.
QUOTE OF THE DAY: mignon@ZiLOG: my chip got KILLED...er, sumabog eh...

Betty Lennox got loose for a season-high 23 points and the Storm outscored the Lynx by 11 in the second half on the way to a 70-55 win on Friday. Sue Bird chipped in 12 points and five assists for Seattle. from: storm home

zilog halfway's done. madami pang gagawin for wednesday. pakshet na buhay ito oo.

MUSIC PLAYING: motorcycle drive-by
KILCHER MODE: bangag.sabog.tired.stressed
QUOTE OF THE DAY: gusto ko nang umuwi!

i'm taking a break from blogging. hopefully a few days lang. i'll concentrate on the thesis halfway presentations for the meantime. sabi nga sa kanan, 4 days na lang at kelangan ko pang magtest tomorrow (sunday) ng ulit kasi nao-OC ako.

i'll be back sana after the halfway. i'm in dire need of some physical activity na rin (walang connection).

hope the storm clobber the lynx tomorrow. the last loss was a staggering one. olats. i hope lowla can tape it hehe. thanks so much!

seattle lost to houston in toyota center

MUSIC PLAYING: some lifehouse song
KILCHER MODE: bangag
QUOTE OF THE DAY: another fiece of the fuzzle, just another fart of the flan...

horrible. i slept this madaling-araw ng 4am na ata because of this stupid dang docu.

i woke up just in time to catch the live feed for the storm @ houston game. i didn't know what happened. but they trailed pretty much the whole game and i think maybe LJ is having an off-day/night.

they lost 80-55. argh! argh! argh! not really a good way to wake up :(

i'll update my courtside thingamajiggy later. i still have to finish the docu that we're gonna send to doc m.

boohoo. :(

OMG! it's freakin' 4pm and we're all still BLOODY AWAKE! ang tatag ng mga tao. ang sakit na nga ng ulo ko eh.

sigh...i really miss my bed na.

here's to a night of extreme boredom

MUSIC PLAYING: tuloy pa rin ako | side-a
KILCHER MODE: bored
QUOTE OF THE DAY: jop, i didn't realize you're in buffy! look, the turok-han looks just like you!

i'm awfully bored. as in. i tested again the code, again and again and i was afraid at first why the heck a peak wasn't showing up in the sprectrum analyzer. and then i freakingly checked the code again and realized i put the module in receive mode. pakshet eh di hindi talaga magraradiate yun, receive ba naman eh.

i added some led's na to signify whether i'm on tx, rx, or powerdown mode. i just hope the real module, the one we're making, works. what i'm doing doesn't matter if the freaking module itself doesn't work. those boards look pretty as keychains and pendants lolz.

earlier i read our 190 proposal paper again and to my delight, we haven't even mentioned about the UART mode! hah! lucky me, if i had put it there i'd probably bury my head somewhere now trying to think how to make the dang thing work. but it's not there and i have to worry about NRZ and Manchester only! woohoo! and both of those are working in tx and rx modes! yayness!

i'm pretty much set for the halfway, i just still have to take pictures of my waveforms and that's it. docu time na lang. i reached until the RRL part for my group. i hope they finish out their parts soon enough. i wouldn't wanna be harassed by editing and proofreading the whole damn thing. i mean, i don't understand a thing about whatever it is jopel and toots are doing. i don't understand anything about their fabrication and assembly papers. harharhar.

so yun, since i'd be able to borrow lowla's geegeecam (digicam) tomorrow pa, i'd do the same tests tomorrow and take the pictures and hopefully finish out my part. we're planning on sending a draft to doc m first. i just hope he reads it quick hehe. i really want to catch that eee vs ge game on friday. maaaasar siguro ako kung matalo kami tas malaman kong kaya naman pala namin dapat, wala lang tao. but then again, i hope all the young'uns be there na lang. they shouldn't really rely on the 198ers like me, elai and mignon to complete the line-up.

speaking of games again, i realized na nagiging jock central na tong CEL. a lot of the eee basketball team members are in CEL, five of them ata. the team captain's my thesis groupmate haha. tapos i harassed elai and mignon pa to be in the eee vball team. aside from that, we also got beng in the sidelines coz their coach doesn't want her to play but she's in the team anyway. so di ba, jock central na itong lab na ito.

hay ewan, i'm bored. now that i discovered whatever the thing behind that thing i was so bothered about. (yung settings nung ipoprogram ko). natapos na naman, alam ko na sagot. wala na naman akong magawa. pakshet.

seattle and up snag wins today

MUSIC PLAYING: some rock song over at ym radio launch
KILCHER MODE: sleepy
QUOTE OF THE DAY: stop waking me up, i'll wake up when i want to

yay! seattle held off houston and i was freakingly waiting for the play-by-play ekek dito sa lolong pc na to. OA na talaga. at least they won! woohoo! i hope they also win their next game, kasi back-to-back, houston kalaban and then it'll be a road game. nakupow.

SEATTLE, July 24 (Ticker) -- Lauren Jackson carried the Seattle Storm for the first 39 minutes before Kamila Vodichkova came up big in the final seconds. more...

UP won daw over UST (women's ha?). well, what can i say? i'd be damned if they lost pa dun. yabang. i'll be waiting for the UP-ADMU match-up though. last time i heard, ADMU won over them at the Father Martin Cup over summer.

i was saddened by DLSU's lost to FEU last sunday. aaww...DLSU's my next favorite team, second to UP. i know some people might say UP players aren't that nice (i read some of the forums) but then again, i'm from UP and i have school spirit so whaddaheck davah?

anyway, haven't watched games lately. stupid thesis. i was hoping i could catch at least one of UP's games (sana yung sa ADMU after na ng halfway tas walang exam yung mga kasama ko). and oo nga pala, i promised bebeng that i'd watch at least one of the UP Women's Volleyball games. lolz.

we, eee vball team, won the other day against Chem Engg Dept. ang saya! kala namin ni tintin l. default na naman kasi 2 pa lang kami sa tambayan. we were ready to drag any girl out of the ERG tambayan kahit pamfill lang sa positions lolz.

we got there at YAKAL early (1pm yung game, apparently early na yung 1:05pm na pagdating namin). Beng arrived although she couldn't play kasi bawal daw sabi ng coach nila kasi UAAP season. Elay followed after she got the attendance from the EEE41 class. tas Precious, the new girl, arrived. astig siya! tas si Rizza nagcut na naman. pakshet na bata ito. Even Mignon was there! MM didn't come on time though. she arrived right after the game was finished. wawang bata, may cs12 kasi lolz.

anyway, i'm waiting for jakey bro to arrive kasi inutusan ko siyang kunin yung biggie overnight bag ni demon na pinaayos namin sa mister quickie. sana dumating na siya. atat na kong magdocu! hahahaha! this is me at my obsessive-compulsive mode.

Storm 59, Indiana 54

MUSIC PLAYING: wala pa. maaga pa
KILCHER MODE: geeky sporty
QUOTE OF THE DAY: -

Betty Lennox's late jumper gave Seattle the lead for good, and Lauren Jackson and Kamila Vodichkova each made two free throws to secure the Storm's fourth straight victory, 59-54 over Eastern Conference-leading Indiana at KeyArena on Thursday. more...

Thirty-second recap: A miserable offensive second half for the Storm ended well when, after Betty Lennox put the Storm up one with a jumper, Stephanie White missed two free throws and turned the ball over. Four Storm free throws in the final 10 seconds clinched victory. More in the Storm Post-Game Notebook

SEATTLE, July 22 (Ticker) -- The Seattle Storm did not make many baskets in the second half, but Betty Lennox hit one at a key time.

Lennox, who scored 15 points, hit a go-ahead jumper with 15 seconds left to lift the Storm to their fourth straight victory, 59-54 over the Indiana Fever.

Lauren Jackson scored 25 points to pace the Storm, who made only 5-of-28 shots but converted all 14 free throws in the second half. Recap

my graduation issues

MUSIC PLAYING: pardon me | incubus
KILCHER MODE: panicky geeky oc
QUOTE OF THE DAY: wala eh.

i am graduating this sem. i should say that with conviction.

come on, one more time, i am graduating this sem.

i know i should be happy. i am nearing my halfway point and the deliverables are almost done. i only have on problem with the uart transmit mode but then again, toots suggested we never put uart in the proposal anyway so i might as well not mention anything about uart. hehe.

ece 198 is my only subject this sem and i'm thankful of that because i get to do those things that i couldn't do if i still have other classes this sem. like maybe sleep until 12 noon and go to school at 3pm. like bring my recently purchased second-hand pc to CEL and get updated on the seattle storm faster hehe.

anyway, i'm finishing college already and i couldn't believe this is what i had dreamed when i was freshman -- to actually finish ece alive. but lately i'm having these nostalgia thingie about my college life.

freshman year went by as a blur. zeus salazar made the most out of my first sem though; he claimed the titles "my most hated prof" and "my most sadistic prof in college". sadistic really. but i got a 1.0 so everything was well worth it. second sem i joined UP ERG. that sem was uneventful. i mean, hello, math series and chem16 were not serious threats to me back then.

sophomore year. first taste of eee life, i think. my batch had experienced the hell that is eee with our first major subject, eee31. 6(?) different teachers taught 6 different sections and they all get to make the exam! que horror! i think they lowered the curve to 50%. good thing i averaged 50.1%. pretty close eh? eee21 naman okay lang even if the teachers were also sadistic. once again, sabit na naman ako. 54% curve, i was 54.something %. it was also sophomore year when i started training with the up fencing club. those were fun times. but i never went to the novice tournaments that year. i guess i wasn't that confident yet. during this year i also experienced the start of my downfall. i failed eee33 and es11 nang sabay! pakshet! i had to endure the summer trying to get exempted in my take 2 of es11. i did and it was more than enough for my bruised pride.

junior year. deee transferred to its new building, the one i'm currently considering my second home. i had to retake eee33 and fortunately for me, i got the lessons right this time and scored pretty well on the exams. i had to drop es 12 though coz it was pretty hopeless. my exams were so low that i would be digging my own grave if i didn't drop it. same goes for math 114. i had cejalvo and no matter how fez reasoned out that she (the prof) was a great teacher, i just couldn't get her style. and she didn't want any answers that doesn't coincide with her style. so i ditched her class. i passed the remaining subjects though. i finally joined the novice tournaments in fencing that sem and was out of the gunning for the top 16. my stupid knees gave out and i had given up 4 lead points. second sem i still trained but it with was more effort, more attention and more time. needless to say i didn't manage my time perfectly so i flunked out on two subjects. for the first time in my life i had to worry about that darn 24-unit rule of up-engg. i was 22 units by the end of the academic year so i took 6 units during the summer, es12 and math114. passed them both and i was still in eee.

senior year. i was vp for sports and leisure in ERG. wala lang. finally wanted to steer my life into the right directions. i can't remember any traumatic events here. except for the engg week coz it was like the core job description of my committee.

supposed-to-be-graduating year. the coe121-coe115-ece113-eee190 era. stupid coe121. bloody hell coe115. quite okay ece 113 and freakishly harassing eee190. darn stupid proposals. darn stupid digital signal processing. darn stupid running PE during the first sem. the second sem was a bit different because for once, i actually had a perfect spotless sem. i also took basketball as my pe that sem, kahit na sobra na ko sa pe, hehehe. stupid summer though. took a 3-unit lab course that turned out to be a full 9-unit load for the difficulty. darn microstrip engg.

sixth year, first sem. it's where i'm at now, trying to finish my thesis. and i think i'm having withdrawal stuff about leaving college. i realize that i still want to play basketball for erg next semester. i realized i still want to participate in the eng'g week. i realize i still want to take pe 3 for basketball. but alas, i am graduating this sem so i don't know about that. i wish i can find out how to take additional units even if you had your grad papers already processed.

i am graduating this sem.

that means i have to review for the boards next semester and probably grovel around for a job.

that means i have to act like an adult.

that means i don't get to reason out that cara does things for me so i don't have to do what people (i.e. bosses) want me to do.

that means i really have to grow up real soon...like probably in a matter of three months.

i am graduating this sem. i badly wanted that to happen from freshman to fifth year. i wanted to finish everything so i didn't have to study and be harassed with eee stuff anymore. but then again do i really want out? do i really want to graduate? am i ready to go out there?

hay...i don't know. i guess i'll see when i get there. and by there means october, after the final presentations of the undergrad thesis projects.

but first, why doesn't my uart mode work?! freaking pakshet!

kilcher is currently in her last sem in up diliman. her thesis project is titled "Development of a Low Cost, Low Power, Off-the-Shelf SRD Transceiver Module Operating in the ISM Band (915 MHz)"

SEATTLE, July 17 (Ticker) -- Lauren Jackson and Sue Bird came up clutch repeatedly against the Washington Mystics - especially in the waning seconds of overtime. more...

Storm Prevails in OT

After Seattle forced overtime, Lauren Jackson blocked Chamique Holdsclaw's shot with seven seconds remaining and Sue Bird followed up with the deciding bucket in a thrilling 85-83 home win on Saturday over Washington. Jackson was simply dominant, scoring a season-high 33 points on just 17 shot attempts, while Bird had six of the Storm's 10 points in overtime, capped by the whirling layup she put in with her back to the basket. In winning a second straight close game, the Storm took full advantage of a large and loud KeyArena crowd and is now 8-1 at the Key this season.

i'm sick and i hate the feeling. stupid fever, i wasn't able to catch the play-by-play flash live feed kanina. i was asleep kasi eh. had to stay in the lab for two straight nights and it's really eating my sanity and health away. i can't believe it's really sunday and i'll have to go back there again tomorrow. crap.

good thing that i was on the right track of my coding, though. at least i'm not feeling that bad. at least i'm gonna do all my halfway deliverables and be able to deliver it on time.

oh gosh, speaking of that, i still have to do my progress report and email it to the adviser who's currently doing research in berkeley.

i honestly tried to watch the grand prix last night and well, after the second set, which brasil took rather easily, i was not really interested anymore. i mean, hello, this was the team that had me hooked years ago. virna dias was there and she was playing like she did way back in 2000 and even fofao was there. although fofao isn't the starting setter anymore. good thing the new one, BIA (Ana Chagas), is really a great setter so okay lang.

i didn't see barros playing last night. erika coimbra was still all over the court and i was surprised at my self that i don't hate her that much anymore hehehe. wala namang ginagawa sa kin yung tao lolz.

and well, i'm not even bothering to watch it over tv now kasi wala lang. ewan ko lang. mas excited pa nga ko sa live feed chuva ng wnba eh. :) go seattle!

anyway, i'll have to check whatever happened to the UP LADY MAROONS' game earlier with the UE LADY WARRIORS. hope they won.

the UP LADY MAROONS WON against UE! weee! wasn't able to watch it grrr. stupid fever and there's no one who'll come with me to the games. boohoo. as if namang pwede akong manood. as if namang ang layo-layooooooo pa ng halfway. as if namang wala akong maraming ginagawa.

PICTURE OF THE DAY
walang picture of the day.
nawala na kasi yung t610 ni athan eh.
sad.
and tinatamad akong maghanap sa photobucket namin hehe.

UPDATE 1:

the i-dunno-what-leg of the 2004 women's volleyball grand prix has started here in manila and i have no idea why i suddenly passed up the opportunity in watching it, kahit sa tv lang.

weird no? yes, very weird indeed, when you knew me way back in 2000 when brasil, along with cuba and russia (let's not forget china nga pala) came here and i was so into volleyball then. as in.

tas ngayon ewan ko lang. might be because i'm so currently into the wnba kaya i'm not that excited with the grand prix.

maybe it's also because i outgrew my leila barros obsession. hehe.

i heard she has longer hair now, and may i repeat, it doesn't even bother me that i can't not watch how she leaps from the open spot and whacks the ball with her left and how, despite her height, she manages to get through walls of blockers. it doesn't even bother me that i don't get to see FOFAO (helia souza) set once more for the brasilians. sure she is or was not the best but she's fairly okay for me. personally i'd have to nominate russia's setter back in 2000, i forgot the name, basta yun.

UPDATE 2:

the seattle storm is still second in the western conference of the wnba. i hope they get in once more in the play-offs. and sana naman, di na sila ma-sweep ng LA. tama na LA...parati na lang sila. gaya dati puro houston lang ng houston, LA naman. tas ngayon, LA nang LA, detroit tuloy nanalo. nba at wnba yun ha? LA at Detroit naglaban! tas parehong detroit nanalo.

panget nga lang laro ng detroit ngayon. oa.

kebs ko ba eh storm nga ang team ko ngayon no.

UPDATE 3:

i'm still here in the lab. ayaw akong pauwiin ng nanay ko. weird.

i finally made something appear in that darn spectrum analyzer, proof that i'm doing my codes in the right direction...hehe. tomorrow (?) i will have to really determine if the thing actually transmits and receives and oh gosh, i have so many things to do tomorrow and i probably can't do that. argh. stupid freakin' eee41, bakit ba ko nag-SA? di tuloy ako makanood ng game ng eee boys.

speaking of the eee team, toots gave me the free shirt for the "manager" hahaha. astig. lalo na kasi colors ng seattle yung ginamit so astig talaga! mukha nga lang akong taga-school ni carabelles pero kebs ko ba no? seattle pa rin!

er, sana natutulog na ko di ba? bakit ba ko biglang naging hyper?

fatigue starts to kick in

MUSIC PLAYING: para sa masa - eraserheads
KILCHER MODE: sick + tired + harassed + frustrated

it's been a pretty depressing day.

i'm sick and i can't think straight. to top all that, the halfway's on august 4 and i still am not able to configure that darned rf chip. darn darn darn. ayaw pa gumana ng target interface module chuva na finab namin yesterday.

now i can't debug the freaking thing if mignon's using the target interface thing.

my eyes are swollen and i don't know kung bakit. parati naman akong nagpupuyat but i never felt this tired before. medyo sabog na rin ako and i even felt dizzy a few hours ago. as in, nakatayo lang ako habang nagseset-up sila elay ng pc nila tas bigla na lang umikot yung paligid ko, i even said "bakit ba kayo nagsispin, magsitigil nga nahihilo na ko..."

dyopel said that i shouldn't stay inside the lab for straight hours. the atmosphere is really weird here. i mean, may nagsosolder, may kung ano-anong kaek-ekan, plus aircon pa so di ba? ang panget ng feeling, parang a mini-migraine waiting to explode. brr...

hay.

Song: Hard to Believe
Artist: Eraserheads
Album: Sticker Happy

I find it hard to believe
That all the pain that we are feeling
Has some meaning in this world

It's so hard to believe
When everything you see is different
From the things that you've been told

I wanted life to be this way
Just a little bit of love could mean so much

Oh please don't take it all away
But with you heaven is still close enough to touch

I find it hard to believe
That someone up there is waiting
With arms open wide and smiling

It's so hard to believe
When someone told me that your suffering
Is what you get for living

I wanted life to be this way
Just a little bit of love could mean so much

Oh please don't take it all away
But with you heaven is still close enough to touch

Because your love is still the only thing
That matters in this world

The only thing I can believe

It's so hard to believe

It's so hard to believe

I wanted life to be this way
Just a little bit of love could mean so much

Oh please don't take it all away
But with you heaven is still close enough to touch

Because your love is still the only thing
That matters in this world

The only thing I can believe
The only thing I can believe
The only thing I can...

new additions!

MUSIC PLAYING: Kula Shaker - Govinda
KILCHER MODE: Sporty

i added some stuff here.

(1) i finally realized that i'm so into the wnba (fine fine fine, not the wnba in general but the seattle storm) that it's the only topic i'm posting about. hence i decided that i'd put up a section for the BASKETBALL UPDATES thingamajiggy. they (the storm) lost to the 2003 wnba champs (3rd on the road) despite Sue Bird's 21 points and 6 assists, and Lauren Jackson's 18 points and 7 rebounds.

(2) i also added a subsection for the UP Lady Maroons. i'm not sure if i'll be able to watch all their games but i'll just put it there for old times' sake. :) i'm not also sure which players aren't with the team anymore. i'm sure about chon mendoza, shaq torres, and camille dowling. they already graduated. i hope they have a great season although i think the ateneo lady eagles have a lot of talented recruits this year (i.e. aj barracoso from miriam high). and let's not forget the adamson lady falcons. wala, wala akong sasabihin tungkol sa kanila. bwahaha.

(3) i think i'm gonna post some CEL pics from now on. i just hope these people stop changing the names of the pictures. minsan di mapakali talaga. pfft.

well, what can i say? go sue bird! ahaha walang pakialam kay lauren jackson eh no? hahaha :)

source: wnba.com

In playing with an injured knee for her first two seasons, all Seattle Storm point guard Sue Bird did was earn First Team All-WNBA honors twice.

After getting that knee surgically repaired in the offseason, Bird has come out better than ever in 2004. Not only does she rank in the top ten in assists per game (4.3), but she is shooting 60.0% from 3-point range and ranks #2 in the WNBA in 3-point field goals made (15).

The Storm won both its games last week, including a dismantling of Phoenix at home on Thursday night as Bird outscored her friend and rival, Mercury guard Diana Taurasi, 16-6.

The 5-9 Long Island native also tallied six assists in Saturday evening's win at Sacramento, but more importantly, the Storm ended their nine-game road losing streak and sit atop the Western Conference standings.

Bird is also a member of U.S. Women's Senior National team that will represent the Stars and Stripes at the Olympic games in Athens this summer.

geeky stuff and thesis chuvaloo

OMG! i'm so freaking tired of looking at 1s and 0's! it's just so pakshet. i hate those numbers. wait, wait, i do not hate those numbers, sue bird's jersey number is 10 and i don't hate her. what's to hate? she's probably one of the best point guards in wnba history. i don't know about the 2004 number 1 draft pick diana taurasi but hey, i don't even know what team taurasi plays for! hehe, haven't really watched wnba that much. wait, i haven't even watched that much tv these days. exception na lang when we eat dinner at LUTONG BAHAY where me and my cohorts that night would watch Victim or Extra Challenge on the tv there. astig di ba? ininvade na nga ng mga costumers buong house nila, naglagay pa sila ng tv sa kainan place.

anyway, i think i got sidetracked a little. (a little? eh kung san san ka na nga napadpad!) as i was saying, my eyes are dizzy (do eyes get dizzy?) or what's the word? yeah, blurred, that's it. what i meant to say is, i am getting dizzy and my eyes are getting blurry because i've been staring into the computer monitor here at home and there at my other "home", comms engg lab in UP. i'm so tired of staring into 100010100 10001000 10010100 11010010 10101011 11101010 everyday and having to convert those insane numbers into more insane hex numbers 0x00ff 0x02ea 0x00a2. do they make sense?! noooooohhhh!!! argh! stupid thesis. stupid thesis. stupid thesis. okay fine, i know they make sense, otherwise i wouldn't be doing this thesis but can we just pretend for the meantime that they don't make sense and they just exist to make my life a miserable living hell?

stupid thesis. now i have every reason to hate it coz i know what i'm doing na and i'm not lost anymore like two weeks ago. good going, to think that the HALFWAY presentation is on the first week of AUGUST! argh! and their asking for the docu sa Halfway, gravehnatoh ha?!

i had the oh-so-not-enjoyable panic attack plus migraine attack last night. i was figuring out how to send those freaking 1s and 0s from the pin in my microcontroller code when i realized i'm not sure which direction they should shift. alin ba una? MSB ba or LSB? left or right ba? i tried searching for my zilog bible (hardcopy manual) but no, it's with elai. i actually forgot that i begged her to borrow it since i was about to have nightmares of staring into the schematic of the microcontroller. anyway, so wala yung little zilog book ko. next i searched for the downloaded manuals and data sheets and application notes and white papers and i had forgotten that i stored those stuff into my separate hard disk and that said hard disk is inside my pc in the lab. oh no, panic na talaga. nanikip ba naman dibdib ko. pakshet talaga.

fortunately, i found myself getting back in track with the debugging and the simulation. and well, okay naman kaya lang there was this thing where i got stuck and i couldn't figure out how to do it. i think it has something to do with the "and" "or" "not" "exclusive or" thing. and i repeat, i don't have any manuals! bwiset.

so sabi ko fine, di wag, bukas na nga lang. baka bangungutin pa ko kagaya ni erol (he was saying "packets, packets, nahuhulog, transmit, transmit in his sleep over at CEL) buti na lang i got most of my code straightened out. now my only prob is "will the pin actually output a 1 and a 0 when i need it to output that?" harharharhar.

that's for tomorrow, when i actually debug the freaking thing sa hardware na! whoopee!!!

since i started sleeping over at CEL, i've been listening to Eraserheads' songs. tama nga si ma'am joy. you get to appreciate the songs more if you actually went through UP. okay, fine, granted na di naman talaga ako nag-Kalayaan or nagdorm for that matter, kahit na di ba?

i've been helping some peeps with the coding sa coe115. astig, sana ganto ako dati... hay, i never enjoyed 115 that sem because i was busy hating coe 121...hating it and slaving over it, how depressing and frustrating could that be? the answer to that would be my almost 10 lbs weight loss. freaky isn't it? so if you wanna lose weight, take coe 121 (dsp) and coe 115 (microprocessors and microcontrollers) at the same time. and if you're still not satisfied, isabay mo pa ang ece 113 (comms electronics) at 198(thesis). tiyak yan, papayat ka talaga. wag ka lang yung taong ngata nang ngata habang under stress kundi wala rin. wala rin epekto ang paghihirap mo.

one and only you

It took one look
And forever laid out in front of me
One smile and I died
But I do need to be revived by you

There I was
Thought I had everything figured out
Just goes to show just how much I know
'bout the way life plays out...

I take one step away
When I find myself coming back to you
My one and only, one and only you...ooh...

Now I know
That I know not a thing at all
Except the fact that I am yours
And that you are mine

Ooh
They told me that it wouldn't be easy
And I know
That i am not the one to complain..

I take one step away
When I find myself coming back to you
My one and only, one and only you...ooh...

Just Friends By Leah Castaneda, Manila Standard

By Leah Castaneda, Manila Standard

I'm sure those with email or have friends with email have gotten wind of this article written by Susan Nikaido on the widespread phenomenon appropriately entitled "Just Friends?". With all the reaction the
article has gotten from those victimized by the epidemic and those men who seem to live it, I thought, "Wait a minute maybe the topic deserves another shot!"

Nikaido starts her article by defining the phenomenon: boy and girl meet and they start spending a great deal of time together. They watch movies, go to the grocery or to the talyer together, hear mass, have breakfast, lunch or dinner together. It often extends to picking each other up or bringing each other home if the need arises. Their different circles of friends accept that inviting one means inviting the other and no one seems to have a problem with that arrangement. She's number three on his cellphone's speed dial (home, work, girl). She's the first person he thinks of when sending those god-forsaken text jokes. He calls her up three or four times a day, at the very least, and the conversation usually lasts for hours. Sounds familiar?

He begins telling her about the deeper things in his heart and invites her to share at this level as well. He sends her mushy 'friendship' cards and tells her that she means a great deal to him. He may become a little affectionate: the hugs begin to linger. The relationship has become wedged between friendship and M.U. (mutual understanding). After a long while and a million questions from her friends, the girl musters enough courage to ask the boy that mllion-peso question: "What's the deal between us?" Translation: "Ano ba talaga?"

Of course, that question which obviously meant to jolt the man into thinking: "We do have to define this relationship. We can't be in limbo forever, therefore I'm going to ask her to be my girlfriend!", only makes him panic and run for his life. To her surprise, he does a quick about-face. He insists they are just friends. After that, he avoids her, leaving her hurt and bewildered. She feels rejected ? She has lost not only a romantic interest but worse, a close and trusted friend. As she feels stupid.

Joe, a man asked about the phenomenon, explained this by saying, "We were getting close, and it scared me." Single guys are normally on the look-out for women who are "girlfriend-material" so when they meet someone who they are not 100% certain fits the bill, they enter the Just Friends relationship. He starts calling her up and they start doing the boyfriend-girlfriend activities together. In his mind, they're not dating and they're definitely just friends. To her, he's probably just waiting for the right time to propose and she's sure he's in love with her.

Herein lies the confusion.

The Just Friends arrangement is great for the one who says "of course not, we're not dating!" Results of a random survey show that the guy usually plays this part. He happily goes on calling her and being with her, not knowing the extent and depth of her feelings for him. A plausible explanation for the fact that men are mostly the victimizers is that women do not normally choose to be with someone for a prolonged period of time if there is no attraction involved. If the attraction is not enough to bring the relationship one step further, we make sure from the very beginning that the guy does not mistake our closeness as "more than friendship." Why waste time? (yung isa dyan pakibasa lang ng mga 3 beses....hehe)

Guys, on the other hand, gladly enter a Just Friends relationship because it's convenient ? Having a quasi-girlfriend without the commitment.

It's like a country club membership without having to pay for anything especially if she allows intimacy into the relationship. For the guy, it's icing on the free cake. "In effect, he is asking her for the rewards of a dating relationship ? Companionship, emotional intimacy, even affection? Without the responsibility. He is playing with her heart and her heart will probably get broken." Guys might think, "If she gets hurt because I told her that we're just friends, it's not my problem. I never said anything to make her think that I want to become her boyfriend." The heartbreak here lies in the fact that not only is the potential romantic relationship destroyed, but so is the friendship.

The logical thing to do for all those who have unfortunately gone through something as endlessly heartbreaking as being told after many months or years of "great friendship," "Huh? What are you talking about? We're just friends!", is to run like hell. Stop seeing him/her! The situation is like a hole you dig for yourself ? the longer you stay there, the deeper the hole becomes and the more painful it gets because you know as well as I do that he's just going to keep calling you, seeing you, and texting you. The only way you can save yourself is if you can effectively take control of your emotions and develop a life outside of your relationship with the man. He'll complain and make tampo but just smile and say "I'm busy, eh" whenever he asks you to go with him to the dentist (like you used to). The balance this will create should enable you to quickly get over him once he finds someone he actually wants to become his girlfriend because he will. He may wake up one day and realize that you're the one or he may not. Until then, you're lunching in Tagaytay with your other friends.

Turning the tables around, the fair thing to do if you find yourself spending time with someone interesting enough to go out with but you're just not sure, is to be completely honest with that person, especially if you have a feeling that the other person wants something more than friendship. The trick is to be straight and firm without sacrificing tact. You must be able to control the urge to see him/her all the time. Usually, the feelings of the other person get sideswiped by this time and we can avoid this if, from the very beginning, your were upfront with him or her. You might say, "But I enjoy her company! Why should I sacrifice my desire to be with her?" Listen, there's nothing as vicious as unconsciously or consciously leading someone on for your own personal gain. There will never be an excuse for it. Find other people to hang out with (even if they're not half as fun or as smart as she is). Be like butter and spread yourself around. Remember, what we're trying to avoid here is the eventual pain you're going to inflict on her later, plus, we're trying to protect the friendship. Now, take this time out to find out what exactly this woman means to you. If the feeling she gives you is the warm, fuzzy, safe, sunshiny type, then you love her as a friend and clearly, that's all you want. She's definitely your pal, your buddy, your ka-tight, your ka-G. But if the feeling you have for her inside consumes you, makes your heart pound whenever she's around, tortures you whenever she's not, and makes you slightly insane with the thought of her being with another guy and now that you're apart, has made your heart ache so much you can hardly breathe, pare, you're in love with her. What next, you may ask? Whatever you feel for her, gather the guts and tell her. She's been your friend for so long ? That's the least you can do.

And then, you may say, "But what if it doesn't work out in the end?" What if it does? Live dangerously! Take the risk! Hopefully, by now you've made up your mind. Now don't try to be smart by saying "I need to spend time with her to find out how I feel for her:. Find this out on your own! By this time, I'm sure you can already distinguish between romantic love and companionship. If you still can't, stay the hell away from her. Your confusion only means one thing? You're not in love with her.

The sincerity in your objective if all you want is to be friends with her should be manifested in how you treat her. Susan Nikaido says, "But what if a guy does only want to be friends ? or wants to develop a friendship before he decides to date? It's pretty simple. He just treats the woman like all his other friends. He doesn't spend more time with her or call her more often than he does his other friends. He usually invites other people along when he gets together with her. He doesn't pick up the tab when just the two of them go out. He avoids compliments that might communicate she is "special" to him. He lets her know he spends time with other women. He's extremely careful about showing any physical affection ? Even playful shoves or hugs."

I still believe that a platonic relationship between a man and a woman is possible but only if the level of their love for each other is the same and as clearly defined as night and day. Both parties should take care in treating each other as friends, if that's truly where they want to go. The in-betweens should not be allowed to get in the way to avoid needless disappointments, hurts and unmet expectations. In the end, there are very few rules to be followed in maintaining a "really just friends" relationship: Be fair, be true, be honest, and be certain.

i'm gonna comment on this one later when my head is clear. :)
